ABOUT VtH
I’m Vincent-Victor Häner.
Sometimes I see something beautiful and need to take a picture of it. Other times, an idea — or more often a feeling — creates a picture in my head that I can't really let go of until I somehow get it onto paper.
For as long as I can remember, I've been collecting these images, feelings and little ideas. For a long time, though, I struggled to actually turn them into something tangible.
So I'm finally giving it a place to go.
I move between photography, painting and printmaking. I like colour, contrast, glitter, nature, nostalgia, Japanese culture, astronomy, tarot — and too many other things to list.
I'm especially drawn to things that don't come out perfectly.
Film grain. Dust on a negative. Strange colours. Bodies and objects with proportions that don't quite make sense. Feelings that are difficult to put into words. Things that are dark, uncomfortable or simply a little wrong. I don't need to correct them. Sometimes they're exactly what I was looking for.
I'm embracing wabi-sabi for the same reason: the idea that imperfection, impermanence and irregularity don't need to be fixed. They can simply be part of the thing.
By day, I'm a civil engineer and BIM Coordinator, working on complex construction projects where precision, coordination and problem-solving matter a lot. VtH gives me somewhere to do the opposite — to experiment, follow an idea, make a mess, and see where it goes.
VtH is my way of giving that energy a direction.
There is a lot I want to make.
So I'm finally making it.
