VtH 006 - Unbecoming
Over the years, difficult feelings found their way into charcoal drawings and sketches. Now, with some distance, I'm bringing some of them back to life as colourful paintings — transforming something dark into something brighter, more vibrant and playful.
This one comes from a very specific time in my life, during my engineering studies. I felt like I was slowly becoming someone I had never intended to be — more practical, more focused, and increasingly disconnected from the creative part of myself.
I tried to make people close to me understand that something wasn't right. I wanted to be heard, and I wanted help, but somehow I remained alone with it. Looking back, I can see that I was also afraid to make the changes I knew I needed to make.
The difficult part was that I didn't really know what the alternative was either. I had a creative life I wanted, but no idea whether it could ever become a real one.
