VtH 402 - Crawlers
Created in 2019, this work goes back to my time studying civil engineering in Strasbourg.
This was the first painting I made during my time in Strasbourg.
I didn't really have a plan. I simply wanted to paint something — just for the sake of painting.
The perspective might give away one of my influences: Dalí. Beyond that, there isn't much of a direction to follow. I was experimenting, putting things onto the canvas, and seeing where they took me.
The bright red and light mint green in the background are a little more intentional. They're two of my favourite colours, and I wanted that particular combination to be part of the painting — a small piece of myself that found its way in.
Everything else is more or less what happens when I try to paint something.
