Created in 2021 during a city trip to Amsterdam, in the botanical garden.

This is, and will probably remain, one of my favourite photographs I've ever taken.

The delicate flowers, with their almost coral red colour, emerge from a soft, washed-out green background. The combination feels calm and beautiful to me — almost more like a painting than a photograph. Red and green are my favourite colours, and here they meet in exactly the way I like them to.

I wasn't trying to create anything particularly special when I took it. I was simply playing with the motives around me, trying out the macro setting on my Minolta. It wasn't until I saw the developed photograph that I realised I had somehow captured something I really loved.

Sometimes the best pictures happen when you're not trying too hard to make them.

Taken with my Minolta film camera on colour film.

There will be different editions of this image, including Riso prints.
