This image dates back to 2023, from a time when I lived in Karlsruhe.

Love gave me a reason to visit Ireland, and somewhere along the way I fell in love with the country itself — especially the wild countryside around Sligo.

During a bike ride, this tree caught my eye. Its strange shape, the way its branches reached into the open sky, and the contrast against the soft grey of the day made me stop and take it in. I wanted to remember it, so I took the picture.

It remains one of my favourite photographs I've ever taken. There is something about its loneliness and quietness that still pulls me back to that moment.
