Created in 2019, this work goes back to my time studying civil engineering in Strasbourg.

I had a lot of joy making these four paintings. They were meant to be Christmas presents for my family: one season for my parents, one for my grandparent, one for my other grandparent, and one for my uncle. The idea was that wherever you went, you would eventually see the others hanging somewhere else — four separate paintings, but together making one whole.

Then, on my train ride home from Strasbourg to Basel, somewhere around Mulhouse or Saint-Louis, my suitcase was stolen.

Inside were all four paintings.

Nothing particularly valuable was taken. Some clothes, a suitcase, and four paintings that meant a lot to me.

But losing them hit me harder than I expected. I had no presents for Christmas, and for a while I completely lost the motivation to paint. I didn't really return to it for another year.

So these four paintings are still missing.

If you ever happen to see them around Mulhouse or Saint-Louis, I'd love to hear from you.
